In our farmhouse dining room, I use the space to pay homage to the history behind the home.  In the attic I found an old survey of the land of Jacksonville from 1931, and the original blueprints of the house from 1951 before the newest addition of the bigger kitchen and family room was added a few decades later. As a previous architecture major once in college, I found all this so fascinating and framed those original prints to give them a showcase. OUR FAMILY ROOM.

In a previous post, I showed you our living room, which also serves as the room I bring photography clients for their Order Appointments following their photo shoots.  However, we do have a separate Family Room, right off our Kitchen, where we do most of our hanging out.  This Family Room and the Kitchen were a section of the house added on a few decades later after the home was originally built in 1951. What a crazy week it’s been.  A few nights ago, we were getting ready for bed, and suddenly the sky lit up like daylight, thunder and rain started, and down came crashing another two oak trees in our backyard coming within feet of hitting our house!  A random and sudden tornado hit Jacksonville with the storm that swept across the south starting in Louisiana the day before.  We are so grateful that we are safe AGAIN after first going through Hurricane Matthew last October, but man, this little farmhouse keeps taking a beating with all these storms.  With debris now…

Now that you’ve toured around the property outside, I want to welcome you inside our farmhome! When first touring our house when considering if we wanted to buy it, the previous owners had a lot of primary colors on the walls. I knew immediately I wanted to go for clean and simple and paint all the walls in the house pure white, minus some Sherwin-Williams Seasalt you’ll see in upcoming bedrooms.
